Today is Sunday, and, as I have since I met John many many moons ago, I will listen to "A Prairie Home Companion" on NPR and I will thank him for introducing me to this show! John was a fun and quirky person and the world is a less interesting place without him!

I was blessed to meet John last summer and spend a few days with he and Jane. I loved his stories about things he had done, his deep voice and his big heart. Each time he wrote to me there was a piece of lavender in the envelope. He was an unusually thoughtful man. He will be dearly missed.

I was a pal of John's little brother Scott. John was my older sister's classmate so I knew him somewhat as the "cool big brother". He was a nice guy and I remember that outdoorsy spirit he had, which I think I remember was the fruit of the Boy Scouts' adventures he had when he was a kid. Someone mentioned his voice...very true. John's voice is what I really remember, even now I can "hear" it.
My prayers are with his family.
